Sure, we all self-check with our surroundings, friends, role models, parents, values, and that’s normal. But who we are comes from within.
Too many people today are chameleons. They dress the part for the people they are with or scene they enter. They use slang when it is befitting of the tongue, agree/disagree when it seems imperative, and class it up for the public, parents, interviews, politics, the list goes on.
I’m no expert, but I know the key to survival in America is to carry several faces in your compact and powder when necessary.
What I believe should set the tone for 2011 is becoming your OWN muse. Inspire yourself from the talent and beauty within. If you look hard enough, you will find it. Once you do, keep a firm grip and carry it wherever you go. What I anticipate you will discover is something like this: Cogito ergo sum, or “this above all to thine own self be true”. And it will radiate into personal, professional, and social happiness.
But hey, don’t let me tell you how to do it. ;)
